Rest in Peace Brave Soldier x

I was never lucky enough to know you personally, but while working with you both in training, and in Afghanistan, My husband spoke of you so fondly. You made the ultimate sacrifice in the ongoing battle for a better world, and for that I will forever be in your debt.
Sleep soundly, and rest up soldier, your duty is done,

Your death brought me to tears and readin up you seemed like. Wonderful person everyone thought highly of you and couldn't bring a bad word about you. Rest it peace.

Your sad ending will never leave me I just hope you feel no pain where you are now.

Get fell in at the rear of the column

I too was moved to open tears by the poignancy and grief in the poem by your father.

We WILL remember you and yours.

Gift from your father

Dear Nigel,

Your father has paid you a great tribute by writing such a memorable poem. This will stand the test of time and be with us always. You will be remembered and thanked for what you did for your country through the words of your father. Thank you both.

The Poem by Nigel Moffett Snr

Hi there, I haven't had the pleasure of knowing Nigel but I am a serving soldier. I was incredibly moved today by the poem that was read by Nigel's father. So much so I wanted to write it up and thought it fitting to post it here where it belongs. The words paint a very powerful picture. My thoughts and greatest sympathy are with the family. We'll get there one day.

There is in the eternal realms
A great line of men
Who march along a long winding road
Their task is to collect the dead of ages
Taken from the ranks of the fallen

After midnight on the 30th May 2009
The great line halts
And a sergeant majors voice rings out
Not as on the parade ground
But in the solemn silence increased
The short command is given
‘Get fell in to the rear of the column’

2 soldiers take their place
Adjust their equipment
And calm their troubled expressions
These fallen 2 shoulder arms
And the great line of men
The dead of ages
Taken from the ranks of the fallen
Moves off at a slow march
Winding its way along the long winding road

Almost out of sight
The line visibly halts
And a sergeant major’s voice rings out
‘Get fell in to the rear of the column’
And we who mortals be
Strain to hear the sound of their marching feet

Rembrance Sunday

I have just listened to the words of your father at the end of the Rembrance Service on the BBC and they have moved me to many tears. I do not know you, I am just a citizen of the country that you gave your life to protect. I have read some of the many tributes to you from your family and friends and it would seem that is is indeed true that only the very best are taken too soon. Rest in peace, with all the other fallen from this terrible year, and I truly hope that your family can find some comfort from the fact that your sacrifice and bravary do mean so much to the rest of us who never had the privilege to know you or your comrades.

Alan Garland

Although I never knew you I am aware and in total awe of the man you were. My gratitude and thanks seem little reward for a life given to make my world safer. Rest in peace with grateful and humble thanks from a UK citizen who doesn't have the sufficient words to express my pride in you. Thank you, to you and your amazing family, for your sacrifice.

good Morning Nigel

The Lord needed a flower
and that flower was you
so he picked you up from down here
and up and up you flew

He planted you in his garden
he said 'You'll stay here now with me'
and there you'll stay away from harm
the prettiest flower you'll always be
